 Palm Mobile Phones
Palm inc is a mobile phone manufacturer specializing in smartphones and PDAs. Palm is based in Sunnyvale, California. Some of the famous Palm products are - Treo, Centro, Pre, Pilot, Palm 3, Zire, Tungsten. Palm initially had their own Palm OS that was used in the older Palm devices. Treo editions use the latest Windows Mobile platform. Starting 2009 Palm announced the arrival of their new OS - WebOS, that phased out the original Palm OS.
Palm was founded in 1992 by Jeff Hawkins with Donna Dubinsky and Ed Colligen. The first device out of Palm's labs was Palm Pilot. The first commercial PDA was named Zoomer, which failed in the market. The Company was later acquired by 3Com.
Remarkably the company announced in 2008 that they will no longer develop any more PDA devices. Palm launched Palm Pre, a new-generation smartphone with Palm's new webOS in 2009 as the beginning of Palm's foray into the smartphone era.
