Alcatel Mobile Phones

Alcatel-Lucent is a world-renowned telecom organization with head offices in Paris, France. Their core-business is to provide telecom solutions to service providers to enable them to deliver voice, data and video services. Lots of big enterprises and governments around the world use Alcatel-Lucent's expertise. The company utilizes the scientific expertise of Bell Labs.

The company is one of the oldest modern organizations. Started as an amalgamation of two small telecommunication companies in 1869 it was first called Western Electric. Elisha N Barton started this small manufacturing firm based in Cleveland, Ohio before shifting to Chicago, Illinios. It was when Graham Bell's American Bell Telephone Company purchased a controlling stake in Western Electric that turned the company's fortunes. More recently the merger of Alcatel and Lucent Technologies on December 1, 2006 resulted in the formation of Alcatel-Lucent.

Alcatel-Lucent has recently been in news regarding the lawsuit against Dell and Microsoft blaming them for copying MP3 and MPEG technology. Some patents are still pending in the US Patents courts.
